TERESA MAE BROWN GALLERY
Featured Artist for September 2009
This collection of watercolors displayed in the Alameda Art Assn. Gallery tell my story since receiving my B.F.A. at The Academy of Art, San Francisco, CA. where I studied classical illustration. Attending art school late in life allowed me to appreciate and employ all the nuances of nature, art, and study of society. These watercolors represent my travels, observations and storytelling. I enjoy painting realism because it is tangible. It is a great experience for me to watch the observer interact with my paintings. The essence of the moment created in the painting provokes their personal memory or captures a fresh new idea. Henry James said, It is art that makes life, makes interest, makes importance, and I know of no substitute for the force and beauty of its process. Other mediums I enjoy are oil, pastel, acrylics, and all types of pencil. Andrea's Cat is a commission piece that was a magical mystery as it took shape. I was so afraid its owner would not recognize this cat. But alas! Samba! cried the gleeful client.
